IMPORTANT INFORMATION FROM THE DESK OF SUPERINTENDENT POTTS
East Dubuque Families,
I wanted to share a few updates and get some information to you as we wind down this year like no other. To be honest, while this year has been full of changes and surprises, it has also been very encouraging. I think it is fair to say that we don’t want to have to do this type of year again, but we also know that when roadblocks are put in our way, we will work through them and keep moving forward. I appreciate the feedback, patience, and flexibility that everyone has shown. Thank you!
Masks: The question has been raised about whether or not masks are still necessary. The answer is YES. For the remainder of this school year students and staff will still be wearing masks while in the buildings. As things evolve over the next few months we will stay in touch with families. For now, please continue to have your child wear a mask to school. Thank you!
Vaccinations: Information has been coming out about getting your child vaccinated. There is no mandate for this and we are unsure how this will or will not change things for next school year. Here is information about getting vaccinated in Dubuque: MercyOne has also opened to 12 and up: https://www.facebook.com/
There’s a clinic tonight specifically for 12+ At the MercyOne Pharmacy on Elm, but all pharmacies are now vaccinating 12 and older.

Last Day of School: Our last day of school for students is Friday, May 28. The High School students will have Finals that week and have their schedule from Mr. Sirianni. We will have all High School remote students in on Friday, May 28 to take finals. High School students will not be in attendance that day if they have completed their finals. Our Junior High students will have an early dismissal at 12:40 that day and our Elementary students will dismiss at 1:20.
Graduation: Our ceremonies for Graduation will be on Friday, June 4 (Rain date of Saturday June 5 at 11:00 am). At 5:30 we will start a parade for the graduates and their families at the HS. We will try and get through most of town, and the school district before processing to the Football Stadium to start the ceremony at 7:00pm. We expect that the graduation ceremony itself will be about an hour long. By having it outside we can have more spectators/family members attend as the graduates and their parents will be seated on the football field. All others will be in the stands or on the hill to observe. We are excited to be able to host graduation for this group of Seniors who have shown such resiliency this year.
Summer: As you know, our JH/HS building is getting a bit of a facelift this summer. Please call before coming as the main entrance will be shut down starting on June 1 and many of the district activities will be taking place at the Elementary campus. We will keep you up to date on the progress of things, but be mindful that this building will be a construction zone all summer.
Thank you all for another Excellent school year! We are East Dubuque!
